Yes, This Product Can Fix Brassy, Yellow Hair—Without Turning It Purple

Patchy, purple orvertoned hair

"I have porous hair and normally toner tends to make my hair go patchy purple but this one didn't leave any purple." - Tiarnna

Oh, I know this struggle all too well!

Blondes, you might have spotted those dreaded patchy, purple streaks throughout your hair just like Tiarnna. Or maybe you’ve ended up with purple tips.

As a brunette, I’ve had the misfortune of sporting blue and green ends myself. 🫣🐸

In the hair world, this is called over toning.

What is over toning?

Over toning happens when your hair takes in too much toner (or toning shampoo, demi-colour, etc.) and changes to a colour you didn’t plan for—or want.

For blondes, it usually means your hair has turned purple.

Like Tiarnna shared, over toning tends to happen in porous hair. Porous hair can be caused by bleaching, heat styling, aging, or even just genetics.

When your hair is porous, the outer layer (the cuticle) absorbs more than it should. That can mean too much water—and too much purple pigment from toners.

Patchy, purple overtoned hair

A blonde toner that won’t leave your hair purple

Finding the right toner to fix brassy blonde hair can feel tricky. You want something to remove the yellow, but there’s often the risk of over toning.

This is why I’m so excited about T19 Pearlescent Blonde Hair Toner by Wella Color Charm.

The blonde toner that won't turn your hair purple

It’s specifically made to fix brassy yellow tones without relying on purple pigments.

Here’s what makes it different:

  • Gives you a cool, but not overly ashy, blonde finish.
  • Tones away yellow brassiness, leaving your hair light, bright, and shimmery.
  • Works beautifully on porous hair—no patchy purple streaks in sight.

What to do if your hair is already purple

If you’re reading this with accidentally purple hair, don’t worry—it’s easy to fix.

  1. Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo (or mix a little bicarb soda into your regular shampoo) using warm water.
  2. Shampoo again.
  3. Follow up with your most nourishing masque or conditioner.

This should fade the purple tones nicely.

From one toner user to another

I know how frustrating it can be to find the right balance when toning your hair.

Whether it’s patchy streaks or brassy tones, it can feel like an endless cycle.

T19 Pearlescent Blonde Hair Toner has helped so many of my amazing customers, and I genuinely think it could work for you too.
